My name is Mark Kittridge. I have been working as a furniture and cabinet maker for over 15 years. The foundation of my career began at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario with four years of studies in biology. Although university provided me with an academic foundation, it was during my summers between studies, working with a team of carpenters and cabinet makers that I developed a more profound interest in woodworking generally and furniture-making in particular.
I completed a two-year diploma program at Algonquin College in cabinetry and furniture making. I then went on to work under a couple of local Ottawa cabinet makers before I started my own business, Bench Dog Cabinets, in 2003. Since that time, I have worked throughout the National Capital Region and Ontario, designing, crafting and installing premium furniture and cabinets. In 2009 I started to make the shift to working exclusively with solid wood (no more particle board or mdf) in response to both environmental and health concerns as well as a desire to increase my use of locally-sourced lumber as much as possible.
I’m proud of my work and make every effort to ensure that my clients expectations are met and exceeded.
If you are looking for a special piece of furniture, drop me line. I’d be happy to discuss your project with you.
